Three things: a ceremony written entirely from your story, a background in storytelling that shapes how every line is constructed, and the confidence that comes from having held this room more than a thousand times. The result tends to stay with people. Not because the ceremony was elaborate, but because it was authentic and well-crafted.

Are you a church pastor?

No. I'm a professionally ordained wedding officiant, and officiating ceremonies is my sole focus.

Question 3

How do we obtain our marriage license?

Accepted Answer

In Georgia, marriage licenses are issued the same day at any county probate court. You and your partner apply together, in person. Plan to bring a valid photo ID each, approximately $75 in application fees, and about 60 to 90 minutes. You'll bring the license to the ceremony, and after we sign it together, it must be returned to the courthouse within 30 days. I'm always glad to handle that submission on your behalf as a complimentary part of the service, though you are welcome to return it yourselves.

Out-of-state couples: you must apply in the county where the ceremony will be held.

Do you offer premarital counseling?

Not at this time, though I do recommend it. Couples who take the time to have the important conversations before the wedding tend to arrive at the ceremony with a certain confidence that shows.

Do you attend rehearsal?

Rehearsal attendance is an optional add-on, and a valuable one. Walking through the ceremony together in person is the clearest path to arriving at your wedding day fully prepared. For couples who prefer to keep their rehearsal day lighter, I also offer a final pre-wedding check-in call to cover the same ground. Either way, we go into your ceremony ready.

Do you officiate destination weddings?

Yes. For weddings outside of Metro Atlanta, travel rates apply and are scoped to your specific location. Reach out directly to start the conversation.

Do you have your own venue or office?

Accepted Answer

No. I'm entirely mobile. For marriage license signings, I'll come to you or meet at any location that works. For ceremonies, I simply arrive wherever you've chosen to say your vows, whether that's a private residence, an event venue, or somewhere that means something to you specifically.

How is payment handled?

Every booking is held with a deposit. For ceremony services, the remaining balance is due 48 hours before your wedding date through our online payment portal. For Sign Marriage License, the remaining balance is due at time of service. The portal accepts credit card, Apple Pay, and financing options, among others, so you can choose what works best for you. If the balance hasn't been received by the day of the wedding, I reserve the right to cancel the reservation at my discretion. Deposits are non-refundable, but they are transferable to a new date within 12 months of the original booking, subject to availability.

What if you're unable to officiate on our wedding day?

You'll be notified immediately. I work to secure a qualified replacement, and a full refund is issued. This is rare. But the contingency is already in place, and you won't be left without support.

What does the process look like from start to finish?

From the first call to a post-wedding keepsake, the process unfolds in six steady steps. We start with a complimentary twenty-minute intro call to talk through your date, venue, and the kind of ceremony you're envisioning. Next comes the Couple's Questionnaire — a thoughtful set of questions about your story that becomes the raw material for a ceremony written entirely for you. An optional rehearsal the day before or the week of is available for couples who'd like that reassurance. On ceremony day, I arrive at least 45 minutes early with a printed run sheet, coordinate quietly with your photographer and coordinator, and hold the center of the moment so you can be fully present. Within one business day, your marriage license is submitted via FedEx Express on your behalf — no scrambling, no follow-up required. Finally, within a week of the wedding, Big Day couples receive the full ceremony script — the actual words spoken — printed and presented as a keepsake.

What happens if I miss a payment deadline?

The remaining balance is due 48 hours before your ceremony. If payment hasn't been received by the day of your wedding, I reserve the right to cancel the reservation at my discretion. Deposits are non-refundable in the event of cancellation. If you anticipate any issue, please reach out as early as possible — I will always work with couples who communicate proactively.

Can I reschedule if my plans change?

Yes. Deposits are transferable to a new date within 12 months of the original booking, subject to availability. Rescheduling is permitted once per booking. To request a new date, reply to your confirmation email or write hello@weddingsbytre.net.
